Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Mich., has re-opened after being shut down for a few days because of a ransomware attack.
The attack occurred on May 1 and left the college's five campuses temporarily closed through May 3, reports the Battle Creek Enquirer.
"Given our ability to restore operations and ensure an effective return to campus, we have no anticipation that we will need to extend the semester beyond its current schedule," school officials said.
The college began experiencing technology problems and, through an investigation, administrators determined that they were victims of a ransomware attack, according to Eric Greene, the college's vice president for strategy, relations and communications.
The college has initiated a forced password reset for all students and staff. Students and staff will now be able to set a new password and set up multifactor authentication in order to securely access the college's online system, officials said.
