Middle school renovation under way in Fairfax County, Va.

Project will add about 70,000 square feet to the school.

Lanier Middle School in Fairfax City, Va., is in the midst of a $40 million renovation. When the work is completed sometime in early 2008, the school will contain 70,000 square feet more space, bringing the total to about 182,000 square feet. One feature that stands out is the administrative office. It has large floor-to-ceiling windows that give office staff a clear view of anyone entering and leaving the building. The architect is Architecture Inc.
